Second Session

A Butterick pattern is sewn up in a tropical print paired with orange gingham. Even when stitches had to be ripped out a persevering nature helped this stitcher finish early, allowing her to make coordinating headbands for just about everyone else in the camp!

Another Butterick design, this dress features six gores and a back lapped zipper. The contrasting orange straps and top band give it some punch!

Even when friends work with the same pattern their fabric choices make their dresses unique, mirroring their personalities!

This up and coming young designer really concentrated on how she laid out her pattern in order to maximize the effect of the random print. She entered her dress in the State Fair with warnings from her mother not to get her hopes up because some people enter year after year and never even place. Imagine mom's surprise when her daughter won a blue ribbon the first time out!

A McCall's sundress is made up in a pink floral coordinated with pink gingham. The skirt is pleated into the self-lined bodice; an elastic casing running above the back empire waist seam creates a snugger fit. Orange buttons that looked good enough to eat are the finishing touch!

Although I never got a final picture of this young lady's peasant top sewn in black cotton lawn I'm sure it is beautiful!
