Sewing (Beginners)

If you have never operated a sewing machine or your skills are rusty beyond belief, this is the class for you. Learn the parts and functions of a sewing machine and become confident in your ability to operate it. You will leave the class with your first projects: stitched note cards and a lined drawstring pouch. Fee includes supplies.

Fearless Sewing

In this hands-on class you will learn industry techniques not found in commercial pattern instructions as well as some of the instructor's own personal sewing revelations - methods that bring joy to construction time and give finished projects a professional look. Techniques will include: two examples of the perfect pivot point, an easy narrow rolled hem and a foolproof side seam pocket. Bring a sewing machine in good working condition with a straight stitch foot, (machines are available for use at the Lounge) and a basic sewing kit which includes a fabric scissor, a small scissor with a sharp pointed tip, chalk pencil, tape measure, small ruler, pins, seam ripper and a few spools of thread. Fee includes supplies.

Zippers, Zippers, Zippers!

In this class students will make a little zippered pouch as well as complete samples of a real fly zipper, invisible, centered and lapped applications. Common zipper myths will be debunked as we playfully push the limits of other possible uses. Fee includes supplies and complete written instructions.

Four Block Pillow (Advanced Beginners)

In this class you will be introduced to quilting. Learn piecing, pressing, tying and a fold-over-mitered-corner binding. The same principles can be applied to making a full-size quilt. Students will select fabric from pre-cut strips in a wide array of colors and prints. Fee includes supplies.
