This dedicated stitcher used the Junior Designer camp to finish up her Project Runway lined jacket started the previous week in the August And Sew On as well as a dress she started as a second project in the June And Sew On.
Design details include stacked buttons and a pink Bemberg rayon lining.
One of the big disappointments for a young sewist are the limited patterns in her size range. This young lady came with a Misses pattern that never would have fit so we found a pattern that had a similar neckline in her size, split and spread the front and back for more fullness at the bottom and made a pattern for the bottom band. She also designed the placement of the bottom gathers for a delightful result!
This stitcher fell in love with a Young Burda pattern featuring a neck band, raglan sleeves and over-size pockets. A lapped zipper holds it all together. Notice her double top stitching on the pocket.
For her last camp of the summer this girl chose a Project Runway design and made it up in cotton sateen. Design details include puff sleeves gathered into a shaped band, banded pockets with curved bottom edges and black buttons accenting the center front.
The pattern for this top was perfect in every way so this junior designer concentrated on perfect top stitching! She also made her ties a little wider and pleated them under the front band. Finishing early allowed her the opportunity to design for my quarter and half size dress forms, declaring it "the most fun ever!"
It's bonding time! This young designer wears her jacket while she works on its sleeves!
She is another camper who wanted to sew a Misses design. She envisioned a jacket with lapels, welts and three quarter length sleeves. We found a Kwik Sew pattern that resembled the jacket she had set her heart on and shortened the sleeves. Design details include stacked buttons at center front and vintage buttons sewn on the pocket flaps. Satin ribbon edge stitched flawlessly in place accents the bottom of her sleeves. As a teacher it is so fun to see how skills are perfected over the years!
