First Session

This is where this young stitcher sewed (really she did!) but every time I came around with my camera she was somewhere else . . .

Come on in and take a peek at our fabulous week!

This girl came with a definite idea of what she wanted to sew: something with a bow! Careful cutting and stitching paid off as this Simplicity pattern came to life and a vision was realized.

Thank goodness for left-handed cutting shears! There were some very long pieces to cut, as well as curvy facings. This dress has a sweetheart neckline and sleeves from a coordinating fabric. Finishing early this young designer had time to make some fabric flowers which she attached to barrettes.

. . . posing with friends was another matter! The dress she created has a scooped neckline, cap sleeves and a loop and button closure in the back.

Cut, sew, a little handwork and you've got a breezy summer shift to match your favorite accessories!

A Simplicity Project Runway design is made up in a green cotton batik. Fabric is gathered into a yoke and self-lined front yoke insert. An elastic casing at the waist draws in some fullness.

A Butterick top gets a twist when this young designer decides to add a contrasting band at the hem! She chose a colorful Laurel Burch animal print for the main pieces, a watery-blue for the coordinating band and the perfect button for her loop and button closure.
