SEWING 101 - JULY 2009
Second Session

Sewing is so cool -- you can pick out fabric to match your glasses! This young stitcher was great at pinning and she did a lovely job sewing her dress. A loop and button closure in the back helps her slip into it with ease.

This animated eight year old won my memorable-line-of-the-summer award: "I find it very hard to take a nap!"

Sewing was a decision making process from the start -- at the fabric store, torn between huge blue spiders on a black background or the keyboard fabric she ultimately chose, she reasoned with herself, "When people look at me do I want them to think 'wicked' or 'music'?

Confetti-sprinkled yellow cotton is cut and sewn into a comfortable summer dress. Lovely!

The cutting is complete but before removing the pattern Chris shares some basic marking techniques.

This cool summer dress features a sweetheart neckline and is made up in an Amy Butler cotton.

Another Amy Butler print, this one rather large so the pattern was matched at the side seams.

Matching little plaids set this young stitcher on edge! She models her very cute dress with her sister by her side.
