What is Sewing Lounge?
Sewing Lounge is a professional sewing studio that has been converted into a school and workshop for sewers of all ages and skill levels. Stocked with commercial and home sewing machines the Lounge is available by appointment for personal sewing and private lessons when there are no classes in session. As an amenity for clients I have current pattern catalogs (Butterick, Vogue, McCalls, New Look and Simplicity) as well as some hard to find and favorite sewing notions.
What inspired Sewing Lounge?
I wanted to create a workroom for sewers where I could promote and support fearless and joyful stitching.
Where are you located?
The Sewing Lounge Studio is located on the third floor of my home three blocks north of Grand and Victoria in St. Paul. Get directions.
How much does it cost?
Studio time: $10/ hour for self-sufficient stitchers.
Consultation and private lessons are $30/hr.
Can I bring my own sewing machine?
Sure. If you prefer to use your own machine, you're welcome to do so.
I've never sewn on a industrial machine.
Are they difficult to operate?
Not at all, but they do take some getting used to. If you've never sewn on industrial machines schedule a short introductory lesson.
Do you have classes?
Sewing Lounge offers a variety of classes for adults and children. I also offer private instruction at an hourly rate.
I want to take a class, but it doesn't work with my schedule. Will you be offering it again?
Some of my classes are offered on a rotating basis. Others depend on demand and the teacher's interest and availability to schedule again. Join my Email List and you'll receive all my class listings.
What other services do you offer?
I’ll measure you extensively using my Body Blueprints system. I also cut precise bias strips and make beautiful buttonholes.
Can I use my credit card?
Yes. Sewing Lounge accepts American Express, Discover, MasterCard and VISA.
